Caleb loved Julian for five years—from university through the day before his accident. Then Julian wakes up with no memory of him, of loving a man, or even of who Caleb is. Julian's mother begs Caleb to leave: "Let him start over. Don't make him choose you twice." Caleb deletes their photos, clears their chats, and packs five years of shared life into boxes. He even starts a list of "Fifty Things I Hate About Julian"—but every entry is a lie. Yet memory-less Julian keeps gravitating toward him like a magnet: instinctively pulling Caleb into his arms in the elevator, running through the rain to chase him into a convenience store, whispering through a fever, "I knew you'd catch me." Then Julian finds a custom ring in his drawer—ordered the day of his crash, engraved with both their names. He holds it up and asks: "What were we to each other?" Caleb's tears finally break. It took them five years to fall in love. It took him one month to fall in love with the same person all over again.
